about
howdy!! i'm ace, a twenty-something enthusiast. enthusiast of what, you ask? just about everything!!
i'm nonbinary and queer, and have a deep appreciation for nature, in particular the less lovable parts of nature. i work with plants which lets me explore the interconnectedness of all critters, and the homes they live in. i'm especially fond of insects!!
i also do a lot of crafts. some of these crafts include insects, but not all of them. some include bones. or dried bits of plants. or paint. or badly cut wood. one day they might include well-cut wood. we can live in hope.
on the origins of beetlecraft
dissatisfied with modern social media as a lot of us are, i struck out to find something that felt like the warm low-res hug of my childhood. in the end i settled on the fact that what i really wanted was a blog. i didn't particualrly care whether anyone read it, only that i had stuff to say and share, and i wanted to do just that.
often, while seeking out how to do some niche craft or make something that i'd seen online (often on pinterest) i'd say, 'gee, i wish they had a tutorial for that'. sometimes they did. often they didn't. so i made it myself, and then thought 'gee, i should probably make a tutorial for this so somebody else can do it'. but where to post it? the gaping maw of social media? and so, like a wee grub crawling from soft rain-drenched soil:
beetlecraft.
